Hello World

In my first two weeks of retirement, several folks have asked what I plan to do with my free time.  Since preaching has been a way to channel my writing genie, writing a Blog seems a good substitute, so here it is – my very first post as a Blogger!

Why the name, Beloved Bastard?  That’s a tip o’ the hat to Rev. Will Campbell, a curmudgeonly Baptist preacher who, when asked to define Christianity in 25 words or less, said it’s the faith community that believes we’re all a bunch of bastards but God loves us anyway.

While I can never hope to be as much a rascal as Will Campbell, I do hope this will be a venue for me to reflect on the intersection of faith and life in an open, honest, transparent way.  So we’ll see what happens!
